What is ahead for Microsoft Small Business in 2015!

Hello everyone,

First of all, I want to wish everyone a great 2015 and hope that you have enjoyed the last days in 2014 with family and friends.

Secondly, we are now in 2015 and it is a new year with new challenges and new opportunities. What a year 2014 it was for JCC Consultancy and our customers Microsoft non managed SMB partners and what a year it is going to be in 2015.

Please take a look at what we did for Microsoft Non managed SMB partners in 2014 : http://wp.me/p44K3B-na

2014: In short, I can say that JCC Consultancy together with Microsoft created a lots of awareness among Microsoft Non managed SMB partners to make them understand that Non managed SMB partners need to change their old business model and that they need help if it comes to hands-on executing their plans in terms of Strategy, Sales, Marketing and Competence.

JCC Consultancy is still an unique niche-player worldwide if it comes to hands-on helping and advicing only Microsoft non managed SMB partners to execute and implement their plans regarding Strategy, Sales, Marketing and Competence.

What is ahead in 2015 for Microsoft Small Midsize Business partners?

small is big

As Microsoft announced at the World Partner Conference in Washington in 2014 that Microsoft is going to invest millions of dollars in supporting SMB partners worldwide to accelerate in their Cloud business. Please go here if you want to know more about the SMB Strategy and WPC Washington.

I personally think that in 2015 more and more Microsoft SMB partners (managed and non-managed) will realize that they really need to change their business model. As Microsoft already announced at the WPC in Washington her focus will be on Office 365, Azure and CRM Online. So I think 2015 will be the year where  a lot of Microsoft non managed SMB partners will transform their busines model and those who will not transform will be taking the risk to NOT Exist anymore 2, 3 years from now.

If you want to know what to expect as a SMB partner for 2015 please go down and read the blog from Microsoft  Worldwide Vice President, SMB (Small & Medium Business) Thomas Neergaard Hansen

Microsoft SMB Prediction for 2015

Microsoft  Worldwide Vice President, SMB (Small & Medium Business) Thomas Neergaard Hansen gave his vision which is very close to JCC Consultancy’s vision:

I love hearing stories of small companies that, despite a lack of capital, used technology to push the limits of what can be done. These conversations have made it very clear that technology absolutely has an impact on SMBs’ bottom line – in fact, a recent study from the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) revealed that tech-savvy SMBs increase their annual revenues 15 percentage points faster and create jobs two times faster than SMBs using little technology.

With that in mind, I’d like to take an opportunity to drill down on key technology trends that will impact small businesses in the coming year. Yesterday, my colleague Susan Hauser offered her insights on the top business technology trends to look out for in 2015. While small businesses will undoubtedly see some of the same trends emerge in their business, such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and big data, we also predict that small businesses will take even more advantage of mobile technology, and we expect to see industry-specific mobile applications and mobile payments gaining more ground.

Technology That Works for You

Susan discussed the benefits of machine learning and predictive analytics for some of our enterprise customers, but these technologies are not just for big business anymore. Small businesses will also see ways that increasingly intelligent technologies can work for them and ultimately make them more successful in 2015.

We are at a tipping point when it comes to intelligent technologies, and it all starts with IoT. People have been anticipating the day when virtually all electronics are connected to the Web for years, and in 2015 the idea of IoT will become a tangible reality for businesses of all sizes. Many small businesses may feel overwhelmed by IoT, but we they can succeed by starting small with a few changes that can make a big impact. The Internet of Your Things, as we like to refer to it at Microsoft, is not about ripping and replacing technologies. It’s about leveraging what companies already have and adding to their existing systems so everything works better together. Here are a couple of examples:

  • A local retailer can think about how smarter point of sale (POS) terminals can increase cross-selling and up-selling opportunities, how sensors that monitor traffic patterns throughout a store can better facilitate customer service interactions and how they can track shelf inventory data in real time through a device to better meet customer demand.
  • A small manufacturer can add sensors to the factory floor that can “talk” to diagnostic monitors to improve production efficiency and reduce down time. With the help of mobile digital assistants, small business owners and their employees can spend less time worrying about mundane activities and instead focus on running their business.

Going Deeper With Mobile: Niche Apps and Mobile Payments Gain More GroundOf course, suggesting that mobile will have a major impact on the small business landscape isn’t much of a surprise. The interesting details, however, are found in how mobility will continue to provide vast benefits and opportunities for small businesses in the coming year. Here are a couple of examples:

  • In 2014, small business realized the competitive advantage offered through mobile technologies. Take Dan Prud’homme of Carolina Realty Group as an example. Through Windows 8 devices and cloud services like Office 365, his office is nearly paperless, and he’s able to truly enable a mobile workforce of employees who connect more quickly and reliably in the office or out in the field. He also uses Skype to meet with remote buyers and conduct virtual tours of properties. With this example in mind, it’s not surprising that BCG revealed that nearly half of all small businesses surveyed said technologies such as cloud and mobile have helped create more satisfied customers – and 42 percent said they resulted in better customer relationships. Roughly the same number said their employees get more done in the same amount of time thanks to technologies like cloud and mobile.
  • Another area we will see technology impacting small business is mobile digital assistants. From a sales perspective, Gartner predicted that by the end of 2016, more than $2 billion in online shopping will be performed exclusively by mobile digital assistants. And for small business owners and employees, mobile digital assistants like Cortana can help manage the little things so they can focus on the big things instead. With the power of Bing behind her, Cortana gets to know you. She keeps track of things that interest you, makes helpful suggestions, reminds you of meetings and appointments and helps you stay closer to the people that matter most. With the help of mobile digital assistants, small business owners and their employees can spend less time worrying about mundane activities and instead focus on running their business.
  • IoT offers an opportunity to gather insights like never before, and we believe it will help small businesses get away from just running a business to finding ways to make it thrive.
  • Small Businesses Invest in Industry-specific Mobile Applications: Christopher Chute, research vice president for global SMB cloud, mobility and digital imaging research at IDC, recently told ChannelPro, “look for 2015 to be the year of the niche in mobility, as developers introduce a steady stream of apps aimed at specific scenarios involving specific user populations in specific industries, like building contractors, physical therapists and field service personnel.” He also predicts we will see more workflow-centric, mobility-driven types of applications in 2015, like Office 365, SharePoint and OneDrive in particular. These kinds of applications that are tailored specifically to industries, job functions or roles have the potential to increase productivity for small business owners and employees.
  • We expect to see new solutions gain momentum that offer small businesses more choice, flexibility and the ability to integrate with existing technologies.
  • Mobile Payments Gain More Ground: Following broad adoption of mobile payment solutions such as Square, Softcard and PayPal in 2014, 2015 will continue to see a rapid increase in mobile commerce and payments. We expect to see new solutions gain momentum that offer small businesses more choice, flexibility and the ability to integrate with existing technologies. This means small business not only need a mobile-optimized website, but they will also need mobile-enabled POS solutions that are integrated into their back-end infrastructure to help manage inventory.Big data is often considered to be the realm of big business, but small businesses are increasingly realizing they can use the data at their disposal to make more intelligent business decisions. In 2015 many small businesses will learn how to put their data to work for them, using it to identify business opportunities, drive internal efficiencies and more thoroughly understand their customers. Big data helps organizations take a proactive approach to managing their business in the best way possible. For example, a small retailer can apply new insights to optimize its assortment of products, pricing and timing of promotions to best increase sales during key times throughout the year, such as Black Friday or Valentine’s Day, as well as during traditionally slow times of year. The novel idea for 2015 is how the availability of IT resources enabled by the cloud will allow more small businesses to begin using these technologies to their greatest benefit. Can’t wait to see where the next year takes us. Bring on 2015!
  • While the technologies highlighted in these predictions aren’t new, the novel idea for 2015 is how the availability of IT resources enabled by the cloud will allow more small businesses to begin using these technologies to their greatest benefit. And research has shown that those benefits can be very tangible –BCG credits technologies like cloud and mobile with not only improving the efficiency and productivity of small businesses, but also, and perhaps most importantly, their ability to compete and succeed. Whether generating insights and efficiencies with IoT and data analytics, or better connecting with customers through mobile solutions, small businesses have the opportunity to compete with larger counterparts like never before.
  • Also, with IoT taking hold in 2015, small businesses will have access to more data than ever before. To avoid data-fatigue, small businesses need to figure out what key pieces of data are critical for their business. And with the growth of cloud computing, they can count on having access to anytime, anywhere data and apps at lower costs than ever before.

SMBs Will Begin Harnessing the Power of Big Data

Big data is often considered to be the realm of big business, but small businesses are increasingly realizing they can use the data at their disposal to make more intelligent business decisions. 2 weeks ago at the SharePoint Connect event in Amsterdam, where JCC Consultancy and Sharegate were sponsoring this event, owner and founder Jean-Claude Chan from JCC Consultancy met Alexandre Belanger from Sharegate. We both talked about our services and ambitions and noticed both organizations could work together in serving the Microsoft SMB partners if it comes to migrating SharePoint data to the Cloud such as Office 365 and helping them to hands-on execute their plans in terms of Strategy, Sales, Marketing and Competence management

Why Sharegate is the right partner for JCC Consultancy?

Jean-Claude Chan explains why Sharegate is the right partner for JCC Consultancy in the field of SharePoint migration tools: ” As my organization JCC Consultancy is an unique niche-player with a 100% on only Microsoft Non/ Self-managed SMB partners, we are specialized in advicing, helping and coaching these SMB partners to hands-on execute their plans regarding Strategy, Sales, Marketing and Competence mangement.”

jcci need help

Microsoft SMB partners are hiring JCC Consultancy to help them to drive more revenue and profit regarding Cloud solutions and we have noticed that many Microsoft Non/Self-managed and even Managed SMB partners who have Collaboration & Content competence (SharePoint) and or Cloud competence (Office 365, Azure)  have difficulties to find the best and affordable SharePoint Online and On-premise migration & management tool/solutions for themselves to use internally or for their SMB, Corporate or Enterprise customers when working on a small or large SharePoint or Collaboration project.

As we have established a strategic alliance with Licensing specialist Actendo for the SMB Non Managed/Self-managed Partners last November, we know that we have found the right partner in Sharegate to fill the gap and to fullfill the need from our Microsoft Non/Self-managed SMB partners to find the best and affordable SharePoint Online/ On-premise migration tool you can use in small and large SharePoint migration project.

Besides, JCC Consultancy has the ambition to enter the Microsoft Canadian SMB market to serve and help out the Microsoft Canadian Non/Self-managed SMB partners if they have difficulties in hands-on executing their plans regarding Strategy, Sales, Marketing and Competence management. That is why I had a meeting with Microsoft Canada earlier in October this year to talk about the Non/Self-managed SMB Partner market. Go here to read about the superhero SMB story JCC Consultancy wrote for Microsoft Canada.

With the partnership with Microsoft Canadian Gold partner Sharegate, I am convinced that this will help JCC Consultancy to get more exposure in Canada and that eventually both organization can provide the Microsoft Canadian Non/Self-managed/ SMB partners a full range of services of Strategy, Sales, Marketing, Competence management and SharePoint/ Cloud Migration tooling/solutions advice.”

Part 2: Superhero story Real Microsoft SMB Showcase: How JCC Consultancy improves their business productivity and lower the costs using Office 365

MS_1247_#smallbizsuperhero_male

This part 2 of the SMB Superhero story of Microsoft partner JCC Consultancy. Part one can be read here.

How JCC Consultancy improves their business productivity and lower the costs using Office 365

A year ago I started out my company http://www.jccconsultancy.com and since our long term vision is to grow the company organically it was important to keep the starting costs low. So I subscribed for an annual Office 365 subscription with the following functionalities: SharePoint Online, Lync online, Outlook online, One drive and Enterprise Social functionality Yammer.

1.        Corporate website on SharePoint Online

Our corporate website www.jccconsultancy.com is built on SharePoint Online and many of our customers tell us that they did not see or notice that it was SharePoint Online.

jcc

2.        Our email access anytime, anywhere thanks to Exchange Online

Furthermore, as I have been traveling quite a lot the last 12 months, it was very important for me to have access to my private and business e-mails and important documents everywhere, anywhere. Exchange Online offers this functionality and possibilities for me to work anywhere in the world. Besides this, we did not have to invest money in a Exchange server and license anymore.

 office

3.       One drive saves and shares our documents to our customers anytime anywhere

With my One drive (it is like a USB stick, but only in the cloud) I can save up to 1 TB of important private and business documents and pictures which I can access from anywhere and anytime in the world. For example, when I was in Toronto last week, I could download a proposal from one my Dutch customer from One drive on my Windows Nokia Phone and edit the proposal and saved it on One drive and shared the link to the document to my customer so he can have access to the proposal in a few seconds. Besides this, we did not have to invest money in a SQL server database and license anymore.

 onedrive

4.        Lync online for our international calls and customers

When I have a conference call with Microsoft China or Microsoft Germany, Office 365 offers me the Lync online phone functionality. With Lync online, I can see the availability of my customers and they can see my availability and can chat with me if they want to pose a question. Besides that I can also have conference calls with my customers and Microsoft subsidiaries worldwide and we did not have to invest money in a Lync server and license anymore.

5. Yammer group for Non Managed SMB Partners worldwide

I also have created a special Yammer group where Microsoft Non managed SMB Partners can come together and share their thoughts and experiences in the SMB market and vertical. https://www.yammer.com/microsoftnonmanagedpartnerworldwide/#/Threads/index?type=my_all    Besides this, we did not have to invest money anymore in a Enterprise Social solution and license.

yammer

A year ago and look now

So looking back on 2013, I can definitely say that Office 365 has enabled JCC Consultancy in a technical way to make our unique concept a success and it is starting to spread her wings. We kept our total costs of ownership very low and the extra revenue we realized we invested this into improving our product services and marketing activities.

These wings can make JCC Consultancy fly as a superhero and fly her anywhere in the world to help out Microsoft Non managed SMB Partners to be successful in the Cloud in the long run.

So who are you going to call if our a Microsoft Non Managed SMB Partner? JCC Consultancy!

Part one: Microsoft Canada Superhero SMB Story: the rise of JCC Consultancy to help the Microsoft Non managed SMB Partners in hands-on executing their Cloud Strategy, Sales, Marketing and Competence management plans.

MS_1247_#smallbizsuperhero_male      jc foto 3WP_20141012_016

Hi everyone,

2 weeks ago when i had a meeting with Microsoft Canada, they thought my business story of JCC Consultancy is an inspiring superhero story for the Microsoft Canadian SMB partners market. Microsoft Canada asked me to write a story and approved the following story.

This story was published by Microsoft Canada:

MSFT for Work CA @MSFT4Work_CA: Learn how one #smallbizsuperhero formed his company to help other entrepreneurs. Read more: msft.it/6015qnKz @jeanclaudechan

My name is Jean Claude Chan, born in Suriname, South America, raised in Cayenne, French Guyana (also South America) and moved to Amsterdam Netherlands at the age of 6. I come from a real entrepreneur family who has successfully introduced a supermarket chain in Surinam and French Guyana. I am 39 years old, married and have one newborn little girl.

untitledpijlimages9QS93OKT

At the age of 6th my parents moved to the Dutch capital Amsterdam in the Netherlands where they also ran a company store successfully for 30 years. I was told by my parents, ‘if you do business, do it with passion, dedication and perseverance’. After finishing my Grammar School and International Business Management education at the Business School of Amsterdam, I started my career within the commercial business world and dreamt to have my own business.

wpcpijlballmer

Last year at Microsoft World Partner Conference in July 2013 in Houston, Steve Ballmer said in his keynote: “Microsoft is changing her organization and the change will impact our partners worldwide. Microsoft partners are forced to change their current business model and create new business propositions which are sustainable and profitable in the long-term”.

cloudpijljcc c

There are about 750.000 Microsoft worldwide and only 20.000 of them are selling Cloud solutions.  What is the rest doing?” So my idea was born at that evening at WPC Houston and I have founded JCC Consultancy in 2013.

100%

JCC Consultancy is a real niche player in this market and has helped Microsoft Non Managed SMB partners make better Strategic choices, empower the Microsoft way of working and drive excellent hands-on execution in terms of Sales, New Business Development and Lead Generations.

  1. Helping Microsoft Non managed SMB Partners to make the right choices and helping them in executing their plans in terms of Strategy, Sales, Marketing, Delivery & Change Management

3 .Making sure that by the end of 2016 we have helped or inspired over at least 2000 Non managed Microsoft Non Managed SMB Partners worldwide. Therefor,  JCC Consultancy has created a special Yammer Group for Non managed SMB Partners worldwide: https://www.yammer.com/microsoftnonmanagedpartnerworldwide/#/Threads/index?type=my_all

visie

“We only help out Non Managed SMB Partners if they are willing to change, to be a pioneer and to invest”

JCC Consultancy has talked to many Microsoft Non Managed SMB Partners worldwide and we only help and support those who have the following 3 ambitions:

  1. You are willing to change your company (internally and externally);

On April 22nd, JCC Consultancy had organized the first intimate Executive Strategy roundtable with Microsoft Netherlands for only Microsoft Non Managed Partners and it was a success. For more info on this roundtable please go to: http://wp.me/p44K3B-cL and for more info see below:

80% of Microsoft Non managed partners does not attend WPC or major Microsoft events

In December 2013 and January 2014, JCC Consultancy has conducted a survey among 500 Microsoft Non Managed partners in the Benelux and one of the questions we have imposed was : Will you attend SharePoint Conference Las Vegas or WPC Washington? 80% of them answered No, because they do not have time or the budget.

Besides there are 750.000 Microsoft Partners worldwide and only 16.000 of them attend the WPC Washington and SP Las Vegas. So that means there is huge group of 700.000 Microsoft non managed partners worldwide who does not attend the events and are missing out on the latest intel and insights. And yes there are hubs and portals where they can find and look back at the sessions and presentations, but they lack time, because it is business as usual.

We work for you, while it is business as usual for you

what-we-do

So that is what JCC Consultancy does and makes unique and a niche-player worldwide, because our  trademark,  services and concept have been patented and are unique for the Non Managed Partners worldwide. We collect the latest and most important intel/insights and filter that and present it back to the Microsoft Non Managed Partners worldwide.

Based on survey result and other results coming from the survey, JCC Consultancy decided to organize Executive Roundtables for Non Managed Partners who did not attend the events, but still want to be inspired and updated with the latest intel/insight.

At the roundtable in April, the topics were mainly inspired by the SharePoint Conference Strategical content JCC Consultancy has gathered by attending the Executive/Business Decision Makers and Strategy sessions/keynotes at the SharePoint Conference in Las Vegas last March.

For my blogs on that event please check: https://jcccloud.wordpress.com/2014/03/17/the-week-after-the-showdown-of-sharepoint-2014-conference-in-las-vegas/

 roundtable September 26th

Today the roundtable went all about the latest intel, sessions, strategy and insights JCC Consultancy has collected at the Microsoft World Partner Conference in Washington. For our blogs of this event, please check: https://jcccloud.wordpress.com/2014/07/16/day-4-july-16-th-2014-live-update-from-washington-at-the-microsoft-world-partner-conference/
