Back at the in-person Microsoft M365 event in Las Vegas!

It is so great to be back in person and share my blogs on my site JCC Cloud in Las Vegas at the Microsoft 365 event that will be held at the MGM Grand Hotel.

Kudos to those community leaders (Hugo Bernier, David Warner, Chris Bortlik) and many others who have been organizing this on-site event to bring all experts and customers/partners/ attendees back to network and exchange experiences on the latest technology and trends that are related to Microsoft Viva, the employee experience.

Yesterday I flew from Dublin, Ireland to JFK New York Airport. From there I landed last night in Las Vegas after a delay of 2 hours of my flight from JFK New York Airport. So my night of sleep was very short as I am kind of jetlagged. So this morning at 4.30 am I walked around the Vegas strip

However, I am all hyped up to attend the Keynotes this morning by Jeff Teper and the rest of the programs this week from May 2nd -May 4th.

For those who do not know what this Microsoft 365 conference is about, here is a short summary of what it is about:

The Microsoft 365 Conference is the largest, in-person gathering of Microsoft engineers and community in the world. Meet peers from around the world to share knowledge and experience. You’ll be guided by Microsoft product team members and industry experts as you learn what you need to create the inclusive, hybrid workplace of the future.

Dive deep into Microsoft Viva, the employee experience platform. Learn what’s new in Microsoft Teams. Discover the latest innovations in Power Platform and Microsoft Syntex plus so much more directly from Microsoft’s product leaders including Karuana Gatimu, Heather Cook, Naomi Moneypenny, Mark Kashman, and Dan Holme. Gain real-world insights from Microsoft MVPs and community partners. No other event offers the breadth, depth, and practical guidance you’ll find at the Microsoft 365 Conference.

Today, I am really interested in the keynotes and Copilot in M365 as it is said that Copilot is the next-generation solution that will change the we work in the coming year(s).

8.00 am Opening Keynote by Jeff Teper and Rajesh Jha

The keynote is all about M365 Copilot. Sumit Chauhan, the Corporate Vice President of Office Group, shared her story about how Microsoft and her team have been working for years to come to this point, launching CoPilot.

So what is Copilot?

Denise Trabona, Partner Design Director, and Sumi Singh, Corporate Vice President of Engineering, Microsoft Teams both shared their vision and story about Microsoft’s big bet on Copilot.

Copilot combines the power of large language models (LLMs) with your data in the Microsoft Graph—your calendar, emails, chats, documents, meetings, and more—and the Microsoft 365 apps to turn your words into the most powerful productivity tool on the planet. And it does so within Microsoft’s existing commitments to data security and privacy in the enterprise.

Take a look at this video and understand what Copilot is all about:

Right now, companies spend too much time on the drudgery of work and too little time and energy on the work that ignites our creativity and sparks joy.

Copilot is integrated into Microsoft 365 in two ways. It works alongside you, embedded in the Microsoft 365 apps you use every day—Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and more—to unleash creativity, unlock productivity, and uplevel skills.

Today, Denise Trabona also announced an entirely new experience: Business Chat. Business Chat works across the LLM, the Microsoft 365 apps, and your data—your calendar, emails, chats, documents, meetings, and contacts—to do things you’ve never been able to do before. You can give it natural language prompts like “tell my team how we updated the product strategy” and it will generate a status update based on the morning’s meetings, emails, and chat threads.

Copilot in SharePoint well received

What had been really well-received at the Keynote was part of Copilot in SharePoint.

This article by Adam Harmetz is sharing with you why Copilot in SharePoint will be game-changing.

Copilot in SharePoint will allow you to use natural language and AI to author SharePoint pages faster and easier. You can just describe the site or page, Copilot in SharePoint will create it for you, and then work with you to edit and refine it. Copilot also helps page authors turn their existing content into stunning SharePoint pages

Recent GitHub data shows that among developers who have used GitHub Copilot, 88 percent say they are more productive, 77 percent say the tool helps them spend less time searching for information, and 74 percent say they can focus their efforts on more satisfying work.

I am curious about how customers and partners are responding to these new functionalities. Please share your comment below and let me know if this is game-changing to your business and industry.
